LEW Projection Mapping 2017
In summer 2017 I was asked by the event company brandentertainment.de to produce a projection mapping show for one of the leading energy providers in southern Germany, the Lechwerke AG, short LEW. The objective was to create an audiovisual experience for their approx. 2000 employees on an idyllic castle near Augsbug. It was much fun to dig into the history of a company that has been on the forefront of electric energy in Germany since the very beginning. Budget was limited though, so I decided to render and produce the movie completely in TouchDesigner, a visual programming environment mostly used for interactive live productions. This challenged me to develop a custom workflow and a suitable esthetic but also brought the benefit of realtime render into a 4k production which I realised on nothing but two MSI GS30 laptop computers. Finally I designed a playback and mapping solution in TouchDesigner. Editing and compositing was done with Adobe CreativeCloud. Additional 3D modelling and rendering was provided by iris-crisis in 3D Studio Max.
