Ben Haviour is a child of the 90s. You remember: renting VHS tapes from the video store, recording your favorite movie directly from TV, copying skate videos from friends, spray-painting graffiti on the schoolyard without getting caught, and listening to beats on your Walkman.
More than 20 years later, in the fall of 2022, Ben Haviour retreats to a hotel room in Leipzig with a Prophet synthesizer to confront his childhood memories. The result is Melancholy Rave—a debut album full of deeply personal revelations.
For the song “All Things Aligned,” Ben collaborates with MXZEHN, a child of the 80s, to create an abstract visual interpretation. Stefan Kraus dives into the hypnotic beats and distorted atmosphere, exploring an alien planet and uncovering advanced communication networks in its foggy landscape.
